All Qualities Find Shelter in Gold

सर्वे गुणाः कांचनमाश्रयंति
All qualities find shelter in gold

The above statement might make the virtuous a bit anxious but those who are grounded and have an understanding of the reality would  appreciate the earnestness of the statement. The life according to Hindu philosophy has 4 stages, known as the 4 ashrams, they are: Brahmacharya; grihastha, vaanprashtha and sanyas. Similarly 4 factors which guide the life of an individual have been described as: Dharma; Arth; Kaam; and Moksh.

In the days of past it was a matter of indulgence, only those who could afford could lead the quality life for quality was never cheap. When we look at the world around us we find it getting more materialistic with every passing moment. Materialistic life is no more the choice of the rich and spoilt rather it is becoming a part of everyone’s life. The accessibilty of quality products has increased but then if an equipment of X quality is available for the masses then there is already an α quality present in the market which can be accessed only by a few.

It is only integrity of an individual which can keep him away from labyrinth of gold. Professions like Journalism and Judiciary, which  require maximum integrity have their path full of gold. It is only through self restraint and the ability to decide good from foul that they can lead a life of satisfaction. A journalist may have liasons with one or more PR Professionals but that doesn’t take away his credibility rather the desire to get benefits out of this liason does.

Integrity and virtuous life may seem to be a dull proposition in today’s world, a world where we get a dose of materialism right from our childhood. But at the end of the day even those who have led the most materialistic life, crave for virtue and respect which they might have earned had they chosen integrity.
