Communication skills vis-à-vis PR
A ‘gift of gab’ is something no one would mind. The ability
to express their opinion in the best possible manner gives a person an edge
over the others. Listeners are more attentive to those who can speak well
because like all the other senses ears too tend to have biased approach. Public relations as a career can be challenging if one has problem in communicating
his thought process. A prospective client can lose interest if not convinced
proper. Convincing is an art and oratory skills are not in abundance.
PR professionals while interacting with media to pitch
their clients have to be precise and to the point. In these circumstances a person
who stutters or stammers or hesitates in putting across his point will lose the
opportunity. PR is all about projections and the aura that one creates around
the client’s image. In these situations someone with a flowing tongue is the
man to go to. Even while having a pep talk the words spoken in the correct
manner and at the opportune moment can be a shot in the arm.
