NATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS DAY
April 21- is labelled a special
day in the history of Public Relations in India, since it marks the beginning
of Indian public relations from 1986.
The red letter day witnessed the
First All India Public Relations Conference on April 21, 1986 in Delhi. It was
the first meet in which public relations was given a ‘professional approach,’
as the conference was based on it. There was a shift, a gradual change from
publicity, press a gentry, information to actual public relations. A Code of
Ethics was also adopted for the PR professionals. It was the outset of
professional public relations in India.
The aim of National PR Day is to
pay attention to public relations activities and PR specialists with a growing
important role in the nation’s development through their respective
organisations.
Organisations identify special
theme for April 21 each year an organize events, highlighting the selected
theme to celebrate the day.
