The Major 3Ps- Public Relations, Publicity and Press Releases

Public Relations is a two way communication between an organization and its audiences with an aim of creating a favourable public image. It is also referred as PR.

Public relations involves supervising and assessing public attitudes, and maintaining mutual relations and understanding between an organization and its public. The function of public relations is to improve channels of communication and to institute new ways of setting up a two-way flow of information and understanding.


Public relations are the plans and tactics nearby your business presence and message. It ensures you to be prepared for the publicity when it comes your way to the business values and image. Public relations is also considered as other form of communication such as magazines, letters, newsletters, blog posts, and one of the most important is the press release as a PR Strategy.

The second P is publicity and the term Publicity has been derived from the word public relations. Publicity is defined as an act or device intended to attract public interest, specifically newly information with news value issues as a means of gaining public attention, interest and support.


When you build public relation through communication then it can also generate public interest through publicity. Publicity is to achieve public interest, it’s an unpaid media exposure both in print and electronic media, while Public Relation is the strategic management function that assist an organization to establish and maintain effective communication with the public. Publicity is the third party endorsement and it’s more authentic than paid advertisement which does wonders to your business.


The third P is press release which is also known as news release. Press release is defined as an approved written statement which is circulated in the media houses so that it can get published. Press release is mainly used in field of public relation, its main objective is to attract favourable media attention to the PR professional's client and/or provide publicity for products or services marketed by those clients.
